The county of Longford contains over 30 kilometres of the Royal Canal Greenway which stretches all the way from Dublin to Clondra in Longford. The greenway was officially launched in the past year and it's become hugely popular for locals and visitors alike. The Longford greenway begins just east of Abbeyshrule close to the well know local airfield there and walkers can get a birds eye view of planes taking off and landing at the strip.
Anne Norris has been talking to Ballymahon resident Arthur Conlon who's been an enthusiastic user of the canal walkways for some time now. He began by telling Anne a little about the history of the waterway in the county
