Portuguese nurse and singer/songwriter Emanuel Laranjeira sets up base in Longford.
Emanuel Laranjeira from Porto, Portugal described what it was like growing up with is brother and his parents the Portuguese way. He finished a degree in nursing and practiced his profession in different areas and had a 2 year stint in Mozambique, Africa where he was an in-house nurse for Portuguese workers building a railway. Then in 2015 he was lured to the kindness and music of Ireland where he wanted to have a better life; first in Dublin, then in Galway, and finally in Longford. He adjusted well to the nursing practice in Ireland as well as its weather and language. He visits his wife and two children in Porto once a month and hopes to buy a house and plant his roots permanently in Longford, which he now calls his second home. Coming from a musical family, he graced the show with lovely English and Portuguese melodies on guitar and harmonica.
