Gerard Smith returns to his Irish parents’ hometown in Cavan after living in England for 42 years.
Born in Manchester to Irish parents from Cavan, Gerard Smith went to secondary school in Cavan and then went to college in Dublin. He lived in London for 30 years working in advertising as an art director. He still considers himself Irish more than British even after living most of his life in the England. He has always considered Cavan home and is happily pursuing a career in writing. After closing his communications business, he came back to Cavan when his father fell ill. He is currently working on his second memoir and writes a weekly column in the Anglo-Celt called Wordsmith.
