Lithuanian Egidija Vaitkiene Comes to Co. Monaghan to teach English to migrants & publish a novel.
Egidija Vaitkiene describes her life as a city girl in Lithuania and how she struggled with loneliness in Chicago. But this did did not stop her from buying her dream apartment in Lithuania, where she had a whirlwind romance with a factory worker whose job led her to teach English to migrants in Monaghan, the Lithuanian capital of Ireland, for 14 years. She recently wrote a Lithuanian novel “Emigrantes” which was inspired by her love for philosophy and psychology, and her mother who is a retired writer/teacher.
