Kames Bobaker from Libya seeks refuge in Monaghan and is now working in a medical company. From a small farm in Libya Kames was a genetics and molecular biology graduate in Libya. He moved to Ireland in 2014 to study English and Aviation in Cork. The cold and rain was a big adjustment for him plus he was not used to non-spicy food, but meeting non-Irish students helped in not feeling different. When the civil war broke out in Libya, he applied for refugee status and lived in and accommodation in Monaghan for nine months. When granted his status, he moved to his own home and worked as a lab technician at the factory for five years. He married a lovely lady through arranged marriage who then joined him in Monaghan and they now have two children. Kames is now working in a medical company and is taking graduate studies in pharmaceuticals. His advice to refugees is to look after their mental health and to integrate in the local community.
