Daria Mazina from Kyiv finds refuge in Leitrim with teenage daughters.
Daria Mazina from Kyiv shared how fast things happened when the war broke out in Ukraine and how they managed to travel to Ireland on Tesla cars that Irish people kindly offered. A middle child with two brothers, she had a very strict upbringing. With a Masters in Linguistics and a mother who was a journalist and and a father who made videos for a TV show, Daria was a tutor and content manager for various media. Moving to Ireland was another big change that they had to go through but was not as hard as when they moved to Poland where she had panic attacks. It is challenging for her to see her teenage girls take in the impact of the war while they are searching their own identity. Daria misses her home but integrating through volunteering and learning English keeps her going. She believes Ukrainians will learn to speak English better if they get involved with the Irish community. She is forever grateful to Ireland that continues to welcome and support them.
