Ukranian Sergiy Balan, a Cavan Local for 21 years plays music to express gratitude to Ireland.
Sergiy Balan arrived in Ireland in 2001 to learn English. He started as a mushroom picker at a factory he now manages. He is the chair of Ukrainian Community Cavan and Association of Ukrainians charity. A graduate of economics and agriculture Sergiy gradually integrated with the Irish locals and became an advocate of empowering the Ukrainian community and promoting the Ukrainian culture. Since the war started his passion to help Ukrainians back home and Ukrainian refugees has become stronger. He tirelessly initiates and takes part in cultural, fundraising, educational projects throughout Ireland.
