Lola Gonzalez Farrell narrates her journey from Panama to living her dream in New York; and settling down in peaceful Co. Leitrim.
Lola shares her journey from Panama City to Pennsylvania to New York, and finally to Carrick-on-Shannon in Co. Leitrim where she has been living since 2015. She and her three sisters were reared by their mother in a non-affluent area in the Spanish-speaking country in Central America, but at 11 she moved to Pennsylvania where she learned to speak English fluently. She achieved her dream to move to the United States and work in the fashion industry in New York where she met her husband Kevin. They decided to leave the hustle and bustle of New York to live in a peaceful and beautiful town in Co. Leitrim. Lola, who happily chose not to have children and remain non-Catholic but spiritual in her ways, adjusted easily in the Irish culture through volunteering. She is now an advocate of rights of migrants, women and youth, and raring to run for office in 2024.
