Ukrainian Tetriana Hrytsyk starts honey and beeswax project in Virginia.
Ukrainian beekeeper Tetiana Hrytsyk shares how she sought refuge in Virginia, Cavan with her family. An English and Ukrainian teacher with a post grad degree in agriculture. Tetiana was an au pair in Denmark when she met her husband. They went back to Ukraine where she taught in a school and started beekeeping as a hobby. When the war broke out, she volunteered in bringing in aid from Ireland through Virginia-based Irish businessman Peter Smith who helped her move to Virginia, and her early pregnancy brought her husband and his family over. Her mother-in-law, Mira Ostrov reached out to Cavan Beekeepers Association who helped them sett up an apiary in Virginia where they now produce honey and beeswax. Their good work in beekeeping has been recognised and appreciated in the local community.
