Drumshanbo VS school are one of the leading volleyball schools in the country, however Covid-19 has seen their activity as a school sport and a recreational sport halted. While an Olympic Sport, the sport is competed in a small community throughout the country and as such the impact of no-competition like other indoor sports has cut very deep for the continued development of the sport. Aidan Shannon teacher in Drumshanbo VS and head volleyball coach, while also holding a senior position with Volleyball Ireland, explains to Dave Hooper, the impact on the sporting life of Drumshanbo VS students and the challenges the sport faces exiting lockdown.
