Projects involving research teams at Athlone's Institue of Technology received over €4.56million from the Disruptive Technologies Fund, in the last weeks.
The first involves work with Longford company Avery Dennison, which involves the development of a special pouch that will help improve the skin condition of ostomy pouch users.
The second is in the area of energy, climate action and sustainability and involves tackling the composition of plastic to make it more sustainable (1.89 million allocated).
