The Valuation Office is conducting a revaluation of commercial rates countrywide, and businesses in Longford, Roscommon and Westmeath were this week issued with their proposed rate for 2018.
After receiving their letters in the post this week, some rate-payers claimed they are set to face increases of up to 400 per cent next year.
However, the president of Roscommon Chamber of Commerce, Seán Mahon, says many people in his county have miscalculated their rate.
Earlier today, he spoke to the Bottom Line’s Eoghan Murphy, who first asked him if he had received many calls from concerned business owners.
