The Bus Éireann dispute intensified in Athlone last Thursday when Transport Minister Shane Ross’s official opening of a greenway was gate-crashed by local bus drivers.
They arrived to protest against his failure to resolve their dispute, with the strike running for 15 days at the time.

They feel their jobs are on the line because of cost-cutting proposals at Bus Éireann, which is facing insolvency.
