LISTEN: US businessman fights to keep Aughavas post office

An Post intends closing the longstanding post office at Aughavas, Co Leitrim.

The semi-state company confirms it intends shutting the facility on August 10th when postmistress Mary McCaffrey retires.

But Mike 'Sambo' Reilly, who bought from McCaffrey's bar and shop last year, wants to keep it open and is happy to employ a new postmistress.

He renamed the bar the Dugout and he's appealing against An Post's decision to close the post office in the adjoining shop.
