Plans for a four-star hotel on the Roscommon/Leitrim border have received a major boost.

The Department of Justice scrapped plans to temporarily turn the Shannon Key West Hotel into a centre for asylum-seekers.

It seems to clear the way for the sale of the premises by James Kiernan to a Paradub.

The groups of investors intend to reopen the vacant 38-room hotel, expand it by up to 70 bedrooms and turn it into a four-star premises.

On Tuesday's Bottom Line, businessman Tom Crosby reflected on the news with Eoghan Murphy, who first asked him about the scrapping of the plans for a direct-provision centre.
