The Managing Director of Arigna Fuels in north Roscommon says much more resources would be needed if the government wants to introduce a nationwide smoky coal ban.
Arigna Fuels was set up in 1990 to give some alternative employment after the closure of the mines.
Brendan Layden says their production of smokeless fuels over the past 30 years has shown them that many people have changed over voluntarily.
