The Chairman of the Longford Vintners Federation hopes the orgranisations new bar apprenticeship programme will tackle staff shortages within the industry.
Minister Niall Collins will today launch the three year degree which is a collaboration between the VFI, Griffith College and Solas.
Gerry Lynn who runs The Sportsman's Inn in Edgeworthstown believes the qualification will encourage people to pursue a career in the sector.
It comes in response to challenges in recruiting staff with some employees linking the shortage with a lack of training.
While the training will be initially provided at campuses in Dublin, Cork and Limerick, it's hoped it can be rolled out more locally in the future.
