13 people took part in the first ever Park run in the UK in 2004.
Fast forward to 2018, and the free for all five kilometre runs, take part in 20 countries across the world and there are no barriers when it comes to age or ability.
Last Saturday, the Minister for state for health promotion Catherine Byrne got her runners on and joined participants in Dublin to mark Ireland’s one millionth park run.
So, we got in touch with groups from our area to find out why this is such a popular pastime.
