The Justice Minister is aiming to amend laws to increase sentences for assaults on Gardaí and emergency service workers by the summer.
Simon Harris wants to introduce a maximum sentence of 12 years for anyone who attacks frontline workers.
He met with members of the GRA and the AGSI this week.
