With the outcry continuing into the assault on referee Daniel Sweeney in a match at Horseleap, on the Offaly/Westmeath border, last weekend, today we heard the problem is not confined to soccer.
Fred Dillon, a former GAA referee from Cloone, Co Leitrim, and Claire Campbell, the health and wellbeing officer with Killoe Emmet Óg in Longford, spoke about attempts to stamp out abuse towards referees in their sport.
