Dr Sybil Magan was the GP in Granard from the mid 1920’s to mid 1950’s. One of the first women to study medicine in Ireland. At the age of 56 Sybil joined the Medical Missionaries of Mary and spent the second half of her life in Eastern Africa caring for people in one of the remotest parts of Tanzania.
Her granddaughter Jean Callanan and her grandnephew Mike Magan are seeking to help other nuns in central Africa who have devoted their lives to caring for others.
Jean and Mike told Sybils story on the JF Show.
