Longford Town began their S-S-E Airtricity League first divsion campaign with a two-nil win over Shamrock Rovers II in Bishopsgate on Saturday night.
Goals in either-half from Aodh Dervin and Rob Manley secured an opening night victory for Town over newcomers Shamrock Rovers II.
The victory was however marred by a bad injury to Longford’s Dean Byrne in the second-half.
