The Hodson Bay Hotel Roscommon senior football championship got underway on Saturday evening with defeat’s for both of last year’s finalists.
County champions Clan na nGael fell to a 1-14 to 13 point defeat to Western-Gaels 1-14 in group B, while Elphin had a 1-14 to 14 point win over St Brigid's.
Elsewhere Michael Glaveys had a 3-5 to 1-10 win over St. Faithleach's in Group C.
