Brid Stack has started the process of rehabilitation.
The 11-time All Ireland winner with Cork suffered a fracture of the C-7 vertebra on her first appearance for Greater Western Sydney Giants.
Adelaide Crows midfielder Ebony Marinoff has been handed a three game ban for her foul on the former Cork star.
Having been referred to a tribunal, Marinoff pleaded not guilty to the charge of forceful front-on contact with the tribunal upholding the charge.
The 3 match ban will see the midfielder miss a third of the 9 match season that gets underway on January 30th.
Quoted on the Adelaide Crows website, Marinoff, remarked her disappointment with the outcome, as it was never her intention to hurt Brid.
"Every time I go onto the footy field I want to play hard but fair football and I believe that’s what I did on Sunday" stated Marinoff.
She also wished a speedy recovery to Brid.
The Crows head of women's football Phil Harper added: "The club is really disappointed with this outcome and we’ll be considering our options going forward."
