Clann na nGael reached the semi-finals of the Hodson Bay Hotel Roscommon SFC after a convincing victory over Michael Glaveys at Dr. Hyde Park today.
Liam Kearns’ men laid a solid foundation in the first half having led 0-16 to 1-2 at half-time before eventually winning 0-25 to 2-3.
Clann na nGael amassed five points inside the first eight minutes with Emmett Kenny and Ciaran Lennon registering a brace each while Ian Harney was also on target.
Lennon subsequently added two more points which saw Clann na nGael lead 0-7 to 0-2 at the first water break while Cathal Heneghan accounted for all of Michael Glaveys’ scores to date.
Darragh Heneghan found the net a minute after the restart leaving five points between them before Clann na nGael led by 11 points at half-time after hitting nine unanswered scores.
Cathal Heneghan ended his side’s scoring drought on 40 minutes when he slotted over a point but Michael Glaveys still trailed by 13 points at the second water break.
Clann na nGael stretched the lead to 15 points with seven minutes remaining before Darragh Heneghan grabbed a late consolation goal for Michael Glaveys in the first minute of injury time.
The goal was cancelled out by the third minute of injury time after a point each from Josh Lennon, Ian Harney and Ciaran Lennon sealed a 16-point victory for Clann na Gael.
