Adeyemi Talabi of Longford bowed out of the European U23 championships having finished fifth in her 100m heat.
Talabi clocked 11.95 seconds in her 100m heat to take fifth place. Hungary’s Boglárka Takács won out in 11.55 seconds. The top three all qualified for the semi-final.

There was better news for the Irish team throughout the afternoon, 400m runner Jack Raftery booked his place in Friday’s final posting a personal best of 45.89 seconds.
Raftery’s final takes place at 5:20 Irish time on Friday.
Elsewhere, Israel Olatunde also booked his place in the 100m final, qualifying as a fastest loser in 10.32 seconds. Olatunde will be looking for build on his 2022 performance where he finished z in the European championship final.
Olatunde’s 100m final takes place at 6:50 Irish time.
Whereas, Tullamore Harriers Ava O’Connor progressed to the 5,000m final posting a personal best of 10.02.92 for seventh place.
Jane Buckley took ninth place in the 5000m final clocking 16:02.22. The race was won by Britain’s Megan Keith in 15:34.33.
Meanwhile Nicola Tuthill was the first of the Irish field eventers in action. Tuthill, safely securing progression to tomorrow’s hammer final with her first and only throw of 66.23 metres.
Tomorrow, Cian McPhillips begins his European under-23 Athletics championship campaign. The Longford man competes in the 800 metres at 11:40am Irish time. McPhillips will be looking to take a top three place to progress to Sunday's final.
