The competition takes a break this weekend

It is a break from the Allianz national football league this weekend with just two fixture rounds remaining.

There is still plenty to be decided in all divisions. Cavan are still in with a chance of promotion from Division 2. As Cavan sit in third place on seven points following their draw with Meath last weekend.

A result that also gives the Royal County an outside chance of reaching Division 1. Meath looking to chase down unbeaten pair Donegal and Armagh.

Raymond Galligan's side have been slow to start in their fixtures of late and again had to put in a big second-half performance against Meath to come back from four points down to take a share of the spoils.

Ciaran Brady, made his 100th appearance in the Cavan Jersey acknowledged it would be something they would have to look at.

It is all very tight in allianz league division four with both Longford and Leitrim vying to join Laois. Who appear set to be promoted as they’re unbeaten at the top of the table.

The two Shannonside teams along with Carlow and Wexford are on six points. Whereas, there is plenty to play for over the remaining two games.

GAA pundit Diarmuid Scullion remarked that this shows the uniqueness and competitiveness of the league competition.

Meanwhile, Roscommon and Monaghan are both facing the drop to division two as they occupy places seven and eight in division one. Roscommon host Kerry and travel to Derry on the last day. Whereas, Monaghan travel to Tyrone before hosting Mayo.
