Aoife O'Rourke claimed gold in the 2024 Strandja international tournament.

The Castlerea fighter battled her way onto the top of the podium, winning her final on a split-decision on Sunday.

Now boxing for Olympic Galway, the middleweight beat reigning U22 Asian champion, Baison Manikon. The judges scoring the contest 29-28, 26-30, 28-29, 27-30, 30-27.

Indeed, the Thai fighter proved a worthy foe and played her part in a very entertaining fight. However, O’Rourke proved her competitive spirit to claim victory across the cards.

O’Rourke has emerged as a real Olympic medal when beating reigning Asian Games middleweight champion and two-time Olympic medal winner Qian Li in the semi-final.

This is the second time the Castlerea fighter has claimed the Standja tournament after last won in 2022.
