O’Rourke was dominate throughout scoring a unanimous points victory with just one judge not awarding her all the rounds.
The Castlerea fight put early pressure on Wojcik, immediately turning the fight into a scrap. The Pole struggled with O’Rourke’s early intensity.
A good right from O’Rourke with 1:45 remaining in the first round showed O’Rourke’s dominance. O’Rourke took the first round 10-9 across the scorecards, with the Bosnian judge scoring the round 10-9 to Wojcik.
O’Rourke continued her dominance in the second round, her trade mark stamina winning through as the pole ran out of steam.
A good combination with 1:20 remaining in the second registered scores. The last 30 seconds saw O’Rourke on the front foot, landing good shots including one to the head.
O’Rourke was in command and the scorecards reflected this scoring 8-10, 9-10, 9-10, 8-10, 9-10 in O’Rourke’s favour.
Maturity and composure was the order of the third round with the Castlerea boxer producing a solid round, using her reach to keep the distance.
The five judges scored the round 10-9 in O’Rourke’s favour seeing her retain her European title on a unanimous win. 30-26, 30-27, 29-28, 30-26, 30-27.
