Athleague missed out on an All-Ireland junior club camogie title following a 3-9 to 2-5 defeat to Granemore at Kinnegad.
Granemore camogie laid a solid foundation for victory in the first-half. The Armagh side led 1-4 to 0-1 at half-time, Rachael Merry finding the net two minutes in.
Athleague started the second-half impressively Tara Naughton’s 40th minute goal brought it back to a two-point game.
Merry’s second goal restored Granemore’s six-point cushion four minutes later. Athleague rallied again however, Kelley Hopkins’ penalty goal made it a four-point game seven minutes from time.
Granemore subsequently found another gear. Corinna Doyle found the net helping her side to a seven-point victory.
