Athleague booked their place in the Roscommon senior hurling final after beating Oran 3-21 to 1-20 after extra time on home soil.
Oran led 0-5 to 0-4 on 21 minutes before Athleague’s Aengus Lyons and Eoin Ward registered a goal each within the next two minutes.
The visitors followed up with two of the next three scores but still trailed 2-6 to 0-8 at half-time.
Oran started the second half with urgency. Eamon Kenny made it a one-point game 13 minutes into the second half.
Robbie Fallon’s goal gave Athleague a five-point cushion seven minutes from time. Hugh Rooney appeared to snatch victory for Oran with a goal deep into injury time.
Athleague were resilient however. Ben McGahon levelled the game with a pointed free right at the death; 3-13 to 1-19.
The sides were level yet again three minutes into injury time before seven unanswered points saw Athleague emerge victorious.
