Athleague and Tremane will contest this year’s Roscommon senior hurling final for the first time since 1980.
Athleague defeated Padraig Pearses 2-1 in a penalty shootout on Sunday after their Roscommon senior hurling semi-final encounter ended 2-12 to 18 points after extra time.
Niall Connolly proved to be Athleague’s hero as his penalty gave his side the victory which was confirmed when Athleague goalkeeper David Connell saved Leon Feehily’s fifth penalty.
Tremane defeated Four Roads 1-10 to 11 points in the curtain raiser.
Late points from Niall Kilroy and Peter Kellehan saw Tremane men emerge victorious.
