While Athlone Town booked a return to the Women's FAI Cup final courtesy of a 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers.
The 2024 Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup Final will see Athlone Town and Shelbourne face off on Sunday, October 20th in Tallaght Stadium.
It will be the third straight year that the two teams will compete in the showpiece event. Shelbourne having won in 2022 and Athlone claiming victory last year.
Athlone booked their place in the final through a Shauna Brennan goal in 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers.
A 32nd minute Madison Gibson corner wasn't fully cleared and the ball landed to Brennan inside the penalty area. Brennan’s shot took a deflection off a Sligo defender and diverted into the back of the net.
The goal sent the cup holders back into the cup final for a third year-in-a-row.
In the other semi-final, Shelbourne proved too strong for Cork City as they recorded a 5-0 triumph in Tolka Park.
The Reds took the lead on 35 minutes through striker Kate Mooney before Noelle Murray converted a penalty.
Eoin Wearen's side increased their advantage within a minute of the restart as Murray got her second of the game. Further goals from Christie Gray and Megan Smyth-Lynch sealed the win.
Shelbourne are chasing their third Women's FAI Cup in what will be their sixth final appearance. Shels having won the cup in 2016 and 2022.
