St. Mary's rattle in three goals on opening night

Aughawillan opened their Leitrim championship campaign with a one point win over Annaduff.

Two late Ciaran Gilheany frees the difference for the Willies who led nine points to eight at half-time. Aughawillan’s scoring coming from Ciaran Gilheany 0-3 1f, Pearce Dolan 0-2 and one each from Mark Plunkett, Gary Plunkett, Evan Prior and Barry Prior.

The Annaduff scores coming from Darren Cox 0-4 (3f) and a point each from Frank Shanley, Senan Mooney (m), Kenny Cox, Tommie Taylor.

Annaduff turned the game around somewhat in the second-half and led at three-quarter time 12 points to 11. The Annaduff second-half scores coming from Niall Quigley 0-3 (1’45), Darren Cox 0-2 (2f) and Frank McNabola.

Indeed, the Willie’s scoreboard was lit up by Ciaran Gilheany 0-3 (2f), Tom Plunkett and Mark Plunkett.

Meanwhile, St Marys Kiltoghert opened their Leitrim senior football championship campaign with a three point victory over Fenagh. St. Mary’s winning 14 points to 3-8.

The opening round of the Leitrim SFC continues on Saturday as Gortletteragh host Glencar-Manorhamilton, Leitrim Gaels host Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s and St Patricks Dromhair host Mohill. Those three games throw-in at 6pm.
