Ballinamore Athletic Club have announced their open 5Km and 10Km will take place on August 20th.
The event had been in-doubt as the covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the Ballinamore August family festival for a second successive year . The races begin at 7.30pm on Friday August 20th.
Athletics Ireland have licensed the event, which will be held under current public health regulations and all participants are expected to abide by these.
Organisers state the new guidelines “will not affect the races themselves. Racing be similar to other years but with minimal indoor activity and entries must be made on-line. Entries close on Thursday August 19th”.
Athletes who have trained over the summer and especially those interested in half and full marathons will find the 10K event particularly valuable.
People who walked, jogged and ran during the epidemic may feel it desirable to take part in a well-organized 5Km. On a certified course with accurate chip timing and the prospect of being among the prize winners.
