Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins reached the last four of the Connacht Gold Leitrim senior football championship following a convincing victory over Glencar-Manorhamilton today.
Dom Corrigan’s men led 1-4 to 0-4 at half-time before a third quarter surge helped them win 4-10 to 0-8 in the end.
The sides were level at four points apiece on 29 minutes before a Shane Moran goal three minutes into injury time gave Ballinamore a three-point buffer at half-time.
Ballinamore moved seven points clear after scoring 1-1 within two minutes of the restart with Mark McGrory scoring his side’s second goal.
Six minutes later, Glencar-Manorhamilton brought the margin back to five points before a second goal by McGrory opened up a nine-point gap at the second water break.
Ballinamore closed out the game strongly and finished with 14 points to spare when Luke Murphy scored their fourth goal with two minutes left.
Ballinamore’s reward for such a convincing victory is a semi-final clash with St. Mary’s Kiltoghert while defending champions Mohill have been drawn to face Leitrim Gaels in the other tie.
