Buccaneers are home to UL Bohemian in the fifth round of the Energia All-Ireland League on Saturday.
At time of writing the kick-off time is 2.30pm but due to the Ireland v Japan international match this could be rescheduled for a later start so check. Further details on the club’s website www.buccaneersrfc.com for any update.
UL Bohs have been struggling for results to date, losing 22-11 away to Nenagh Ormonde last time out and currently lie second from bottom.
In their previous outing they recorded a heroic 18-14 victory over Cashel despite having two players red carded! So the Pirates will need to grant the Limerick side due respect and be prepared to work from start to finish if they are to maintain their current good run.
Centres Paul Clancy, who captains the Red Robins, and Harry Byrne (their place-kicker) are two key performers for UL Bohs as are forwards Teddy Rowesome and the vastly experienced Ian Condell.
Buccaneers have a relatively settled squad which like Saturday’s opponents is fairly youthful.
Performances have had quite good patches mixed with some shoddiness. If Buccs can eliminate errors and lapses of concentration, then they have immense potential in their burgeoning squad.
The midlanders cannot afford to be playing with less than a full complement particularly in tight matches. Tabo Maree and Rory O’Connor are Buccaneers injury concerns but, hopefully, both will be fit for Saturday’s duel.
