Buccaneers entertain Old Crescent in the Energia All-Ireland League at Dubarry Park on Saturday afternoon looking to return to winning ways.
Buccs overcame the Limerick club 34-20 in a highly entertaining contest at Rosbrien at the end of October and will hope that on home soil they can again prevail.
Old Crescent are on a decent run of results at the moment despite a surprising 29-12 loss away to Dolphin last weekend. Prior to that they had won three of their previous four fixtures to move up to mid-table.
Ronan McKenna, Dan Hurley, Kevin Doyle, Cian Reale, Val McDermott and Jordan Higgins will take watching by the Pirates.
Meanwhile, Buccaneers too must regroup. Feet may not have on the ground at UL Bohs due to big wins preceding that encounter.
Buccs hosting pre-match function for Old Crescent match
Buccaneers have been stymied, primarily due to the on-going pandemic, in their endeavours to host pre-match functions for All-Ireland League fixtures this season.
The take-up for the most recent home game against Dolphin was highly promising but then the foul weather necessitated a change of match venue to Creggs which resulted in the pre-match being cancelled.
The Pirates now have just two home games remaining as they strive to secure a Top Four Play-off position. Limerick club Old Crescent are the visitors to Dubarry Park for Buccs penultimate home AIL fixture on Saturday.
For this much anticipated game, the club will hold a pre-match function in The Bounty at which supporters and others can enjoy complimentary wine with their meal, receive a 100-page matchday programme and get free admission to the big AIL game.
Cost is only €30 per person. Groups and/or individuals can be catered for. Kindly contact our Administrator Geraldine at 0861732711 or by email [email protected] to book.
The Buccs are playing sparkling rugby at the moment so let’s get behind the team! “Come on, The Buccs!”
Seconds home to Dunmore in cup
Buccaneers seconds take on Dunmore in an intriguing Connacht junior cup tie down for decision at Dubarry Park on Sunday afternoon with the action getting under way at 2:30pm.
This developing Buccs squad enjoyed a very promising junior 1A League campaign in which they reached the semi-final.
They will hope to have a decent Cup run too and have a nice mix of youth potential and mature savvy in their panel.
For their part, Dunmore have also had a fine Junior 1B League series, finishing runners-up to Ballinrobe whom they will play in the now twice postponed league final. This looks a very evenly balanced tie that could be decided by a little bit of magic or desire.
