Castlerea missed out on an All-Ireland intermediate club final place following a 2-10 to 0-15 defeat at the hands of Cill Na Martra at Portlaoise.
The game was evenly contested overall as the concession of two quickfire goals second-half proved detrimental for the Roscommon champions.
The sides traded three points each inside the opening 15 minutes. Adam McDermott chipped in with two points while Darren McDermott was also on target.
Castlerea suffered a blow when Michael Conroy was shown a black card, but Dara Bruen’s men fared well during their captain’s absence.
Points from Adam McDermott, Darren McDermot and Shane Keenan saw the Castelrea keep pace with the Cork outfit. The game was tied at six points each at the break.
Adam McDermott edged Castlerea in front two minutes into the second half. His effort was cancelled out by Tadhg Corkery 60 seconds later.
Darren McDermott restored their one-point cushion on 40 minutes before two quickfire goals saw Cill Na Martra regain the upper hand.
Micheál Ó Deasúna with found the net on 41 minutes. Daniel Ó Duinnín added another goal 30 seconds later as the Cork side moved five points clear.
Castlerea responded impressively. Points from Adam McDermott, Padraig Joyce and Keenan made it a two-point game on 49 minutes.
Shane Dineen gave Cill Na Martra a three-point cushion on 58 minutes. The Cork side were subsequently reduced to 14 men, Danny Connell was sent off 30 seconds from time.
Darren and Adam McDermott sent over late points for Castlerea as the Roscommon side lost out by the smallest of margins.
