CJ Stander has announced he will retire from rugby in June. Stander won his 50th Irish cap against Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday but has confirmed he'll retire
from all forms of rugby
when his Munster contract expires and the end of June. The 30-year-old says he's made the decision because rugby has started to take "an unfair toll" on his family.
Stander made his debut for Munster in 2012 after moving to Ireland from his native South Africa.
All professional sports people are told “you will know when the time is right to hang up your boots”. It’s a sentiment one cannot fully comprehend until that day arrives.
For me, that time has come, and I hereby publicly announce my retirement from all forms of rugby. pic.twitter.com/KK5zgWC0O1— C J Stander (@CJStander) March 16, 2021
