Mohill advance to the Leitrim SFC to play St Marys after an impressive performance against Leitrim Gaels writes Jack Gannon.
Mohill got off to the best possible start as Keith Beirne rifled home a shot after just three minutes, giving Brendan Flynn no chance.
Beirne followed this up with a free after five minutes to see Mohill lead Leitrim Gaels 1-1 to no score.
On 10 minutes, Jonathan Reynolds would see black and subsequently put Mohill down to 14 men for ten minutes. Leitrim Gaels certainly exposed this fact, scoring four out of the next five scores, four of which coming from Stephen Goldrick as they trailed Mohill by a point after 21 minutes.
The sides would then go point for point to end out the half. Mohill landing three scores all from the boot of Keith Beirne. Gaels would get two of their own to trail by two points at the break.
Aaron Mcloughlin landed the first score of the second-half for Leitrim Gaels before Jordan Reynolds kicked two points in a row for Mohill. Give Mohill a three point advantage.
Eunan Tracy replied with a point of his own after 38 minutes.
Gaels grabbed a well taken goal from Daniel O’Sullivan to go a point up after 42 minutes. Keith Beirne kicked back-to-back points of his own for Mohill to restore their advantage.
David Regan interrupted Mohills scoring spree with a well taken free to level the sides, before Mohill substitute Ronan Kennedy finished off a great team goal putting his team three points ahead on 49 minutes.
Seven minutes later Kennedy earned a well taken score to put four points between the sides. Eunan Tracy gave Leitrim Gaels hope on 58 minutes with a point, however this proved to be merely a consolation point; proving to be the final score of the game.
The final score read Mohill 2-10 to Leitrim Gaels 1-10. Mohill can now look forward to a county final against St Marys in a replay of the 2020 final which Mohill won.
