Clonguish three-in-a-row at Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé

Clonguish Ladies matched the Mayo club Carnacon’s record of three-in-a-row senior titles at the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé 2023 which took place all across the Dingle Peninsula last weekend.

Despite their straight semi-final opponents Crosserlough of Cavan being only three points behind at half-time. The Longford ladies pulled away, winning out on a score-line of 2-15 to 2-3 with Captain Caitriona Moore starring.

That secured their ticket to the final against Thomas Davis of Dublin, played in tournament host club An Gaeltacht’s pitch at Gallarus.

Clonguish were two points ahead at half-time but tagged on some lovely long range scores in the second-half to pull away and win by 1-12 to 1-6.

“This is a massive showcase for West Kerry and we are happy to say the power and draw of this tournament for those interested in Gaelic games is still massive” said Comórtas chairman Padraig Óg O'Sé.

“Thanks to Clonguish who are up there now in Comórtas history with that three-in-a-row. We have a great link with Longford teams and long may it continue. I’d like to also extend a thanks to all the referees, volunteers and of course our partners Lidl, EJ Menswear.com, Udarás Na Gaeltachta and Kerry county council for helping to run the football festival each year.”

With 22 teams; making up over 550 panel members, management and supporters, taking part in ladies and men’s Gaelic football competitions at junior, intermediate and senior level, the ‘Comórtas’ delivered a feast of football to West Kerry.
