Longford Town's promotion play-off dreams came to an end as Cobh Ramblers scored a 2-0 win in St. Colemans Park.
The defeat is town's fourth in a row and means the best they can not finish is sixth and outside the play-off places.
Goals from Jack Doherty and Wilson Waweru in either half gave Cobh the three points. Longford have two league games remaining and only have pride to play for.
Elsewhere, in the first division Bray Wanderers had a 1-0 win away to Athlone Town. Wexford secured a play-off spot with a 2-1 win away to Kerry. Whereas Treaty United scored a 2-0 win over Finn Harps.
Galway United and Waterford now have a game in hand, due to Galway's FAI cup semi-final.
With two rounds of games remaining Waterford, Cobh Ramblers and Wexford have secured play-off places. The final place is between, Athlone Town, Treaty United and Bray Wanderers.
