Colin Griffin retains Ballinamore 10K road race title

Olympian Griffin returns to win local race

Colin Griffin of Ballinamore AC won the Solar Compare 10K at the Ballinamore festival road races on Sunday.

Griffin posted 33 minutes 34 seconds for victory in very warm conditions. Olympian Griffin retaining his title. Second place went to Peter Gallagher of North Sligo in 37.22 and third was Derek Croal of Bohermeen AC, Co Meath.

Indeed, the Women’s race was won by Valeriia Petrova of Sligo AC in 43 minutes 30 seconds. Whereas, Andrea Dolan of Carrigallen took second place in 46:30 with Kate Murray of Crusaders third in 49.36.

Indeed, French visitor to Ballinamore, Tom Mazilie won the The 5K race in 17 minutes five seconds. Mark Dolan of Carrigallen took second place in 22:47 with Sean Hannon of Dromod third in 25 minutes 32 seconds.

The women’s 5K went to Aoife Donegan of Dublin City Harriers in 21:34. Michelle McCartin of host club Ballinamore took second place in 23:40 with Stephanie Flynn of Gorvagh third in 25.22.

Ballinamore Athletic Club will celebrate its 60th birthday on Sunday November 24th with another fixture.
