Colmcille progressed to the Longford SFC semi-finals with a dramatic 1-7 to eight point win over Clonguish.
Clonguish were favourites to dislodge Killoe as county champions. However, Colmcille caused a surprised even allowing for talisman Barry McKeon to be sent-off.
Matthew Carey opened the scoring after six minutes of play with a point from play. Fergal Sheridan equalising three minutes.
A Jack Macken free on 13 minutes put Colmcille ahead of the first time in the game.
Whereas, A Michael Flynn free restored parity three minutes later. Clonguish took a point lead through Jamie Dorr and Masterson on 19 minutes.
Macken cut the gap with a point from play two minutes later. However, Matthew Carey fired over his second point of the game a minute before half-time.
The scoring wasn’t finished as a Paul McKeon free on the half-hour made it a one point game at half-time. Clonguish leading five points to four at half-time.
Andrew Flynn opened the second-half scoring with a point on the 34 minutes.
However, Colmcille struck back with a brilliant goal. Paul McKeon finding Barry McKeon in on goal, who slipped the ball low past the goalkeeper.
The Clonguish response was impressive. Josh Sorohan from play and a Carey free seeing Clonguish eight-points to 1-4 ahead on 41 minutes.
However, Comcille used the strong breeze to their advantage. A Jack Macken free levelled the game up on 49 minutes. Ruairi Harkin put Colmcille ahead on 50 minutes.
Clonguish sensed another semi-final place was in the offering when Barry McKeon saw the line for a second yellow card four minutes from time.
However, Colmcille used their experience and the bench well. A Macken free on 60 minutes making it a two point game.
That’s how it finished as Colmcille progressed to the semi-final winning out 1-7 to eight points.
