Ballymahon bowed out of the Leinster intermediate club football championship following a 2-13 to 0-6 loss to Cooley Kickhams at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
Cooley Kickhams dominated the contest and led 2-6 to 0-3 at the break winning out with 13 points to spare.
Danny Ryan opened Ballymahon’s account two minutes in. Four minutes later, James O'Reilly's goal gave Cooley Kickhams a three-point lead.
Michael Rafferty’s penalty goal made it a six-point game on 20 minutes and the visitors subsequently moved nine points clear at half-time.
O’Reilly opened Cooley Kickham’s second-half account three minutes into the second half but his side subsequently went 14 minutes without scoring.
Ballymahon landed three successive scores during that period; Jack Walsh landed a brace while Trevor Smullen was also on target.
Ballymahon would fail to score during the remainder of the contest and the Longford champions also finished the contest with 14 men as Keith Manley was sent off two minutes into injury time.
Cooley Kickhams sealed victory by hitting five unanswered points and can now look forward to playing the Dublin champions in a fortnight’s time.
