Cork City extended their lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity first division with a convincing win over Longford Town.
2,337 paid into Turners Cross as City laid down a marker for the first division title. Sam Verdon had given Longford the lead two minutes before half-time.
City were level before the break. Michael Barker could only direct Kevin O’Connor’s dangerous cross inside his far post in injury time.
Cork took the lead nine minutes into the second-half. Barry Coffey volleying the ball home from close range.
Coffey grabbed his second to make it 3-0 from close-range before Darragh Crowley added some gloss to the score-line, his shot from range finding the net off the post.
