Both Ireland’s men’s and women’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay teams secured sixth place in their heats and eleventh overall in new Irish records.
Longford’s Darragh Greene (Breaststroke) was joined on the men's team by Conor Ferguson (Backstroke), Max McCusker (Butterfly) and Shane Ryan (Freestyle).
The quartet finished sixth in their heat in a time of 3:33.81 seconds, a new Irish record. However, it wasn’t enough to make the final.
USA won the heat in a time of 3:31.62 seconds while Great Britain finished second with Australia in third place.
Meanwhile, the women’s medley relay team also set a new record despite failing to progress.
Mona McSharry (Breastroke), Danielle Hill (Backstroke), Ellen Walshe (Butterfly) and Grace Davison (Freestyle) posted a time of 4:00.12.
They were also elevated by one place in the overall standings after Italy was disqualified.
The heat was won by Canada in 3:56.10. USA were in second place and Japan finished third.
