Roscommon manager Davy Burke dismisses links to manage Kildare

Roscommon boss Davy Burke had dismissed reports linking him with a move to Kildare.

Burke’s native county are on the lookout for a new manager after Glen Ryan stepped down last Saturday. Kildare’s Tailteann cup campaign ending in the quarter-final by Laois.

Indeed, Burke was installed as early favourite by many. However, Burke has dismissed a link to the Kildare job. That’s “news to me” laughed Burke on the suggestion of taking over the Lillywhites hot seat.

“Obviously I know Glen is gone, I have a lot of time for Glen. He’s a serious fella and a legend on the field” Burke explained.

“As regards the manager’s position, I’ll be on the field in Healy Park on Saturday and that’s enough for me”.

Meanwhile, Burke has named an unchanged Roscommon side from the one who beat Cavan in the group stages.

Roscommon name unchanged team for Tyrone

Conor Carroll starts in goal with a full-back line of Niall Higgins, Brian Stack and Robbie Dolan. David Murray, Ruaidhri Fallon and Eoin McCormack form the half-back line.

Whereas, Enda Smith and Ultan Harney make-up the midfield with Dylan Ruane, Diarmuid Murtagh and Shane Cunnane across the half-forwards. Daire Cregg, Conor Cox and Donie Smith make-up the full-forward line.

Burke has named Colm Lavin, Niall Daly, Conor Hussey, Ronan Daly, Keith Doyle, Andrew Glennon, Conor Hand, Adam McDermott, Tadhg O'Rourke, Cathal Heneghan and Ciaran Lennon on the bench.

Whereas, Brian Dooher has brought Peter Harte into the starting XV for the suspended Conn Kilpatrick. Mattie Donnelly moves into midfield, with Harte at centre half-back.

While, Ben Cullen comes in at right-half-back allowing Kieran McGeary to move to centre-half-forward, with Michael O’Neill moving to left-half-back. Niall Devlin moves to left-corner-back back with Aidan Clarke dropping off the team.
