Longford Town’s hopes of making two wins-in-a-row were crushed by Derry City in the Ryan McBride Bandywell.
First-half strikes by Jamie McGonigle and James Aktintunde plus a Junior goal eight minutes from time saw Derry win out 3-0.
Derry took the lead after 16 minutes, McGonigle latching onto a ball over the defence and put a calm finish past Lee Stacey.
It was 2-0 on 29 minutes when McGonigle’s cross was laid off by William Fitzgerald who set up Aktintude to strike low to the net.
Derry made sure of the points eight minutes from time. Daniel Lafferty setting up Junior who volleyed it home.
